Convert PDF to WebP for lighter web pages
WebP was designed for the web. This PDF to WebP Converter usually stores a page in fewer bytes than JPG at the same visual quality, so previews and galleries built from it load sooner. Page-speed tools recommend it for exactly that reason.
Each page is drawn at 144 dpi, so a US Letter page comes out at 1224 × 1584 pixels, room enough to scale down for any layout. Landscape pages stay landscape: the same page turned sideways is 1584 × 1224.
Where PDF pages work better as WebP
-
Document previews
Show the first pages of a report, menu or brochure on your site without making visitors open the PDF. Link the full file underneath for anyone who wants it.
-
Articles and help pages
Place a page or a chart inline in a post, at a lighter weight than the same page as a PNG.
-
Portfolio pages
Show brochure spreads, posters or reports you designed as images on your own site, quick to scroll through.
-
Talk slides online
Publish a slide deck saved as PDF as a row of images on a web page, one slide per image.
-
Online menus
Show a restaurant or café menu as images that open quickly on a phone.
-
Product sheets
Put spec sheets or price lists on your own product pages as images.
What the converter does with each page
Pages are drawn one at a time in your browser onto a white canvas, the way a viewer shows them, and each canvas is encoded as a lossy WebP at the quality you picked, so the images have a solid white background rather than transparent areas. Pages to Convert takes single pages and ranges such as 1-3, 7, and the files always follow document order. A progress panel counts the pages as they go.
When the last page is done, all of them are packed into one ZIP such as report_webp_pages.zip, with files named report_page_1.webp, report_page_2.webp and so on. The result also shows every page as a thumbnail that opens larger and has its own download button, for when you need just one. Filled-in form entries, stamps and comment markers appear as they do on screen, and layers switched off in the PDF stay hidden.
How much each WebP is compressed
-
High Quality Default
Quality 95 of 100, the closest to the page as drawn.
-
Medium Quality
Quality 75 of 100, with files much smaller than at High.
-
Low Quality (Smaller files)
Quality 60 of 100: the lightest files, with fine text starting to soften.
Want one combined WebP?
This page always saves separate images. PDF to Images can join the pages into one tall WEBP instead, handy for showing a short document as a single scrolling picture.

Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari show WebP. Some older desktop programs and email apps can't open it; for those, PDF to JPG is the safer choice.
No. Even High Quality drops a little detail to keep files small; at normal size the difference shows mostly around small text. For an exact copy of each page, use PDF to PNG.
Medium Quality suits most page previews and keeps them light. Choose High Quality for pages that are mostly small text, where softened letters show first. Low Quality suits pages that only need to be recognised, such as thumbnails in a list.
No. Every page is drawn at 144 dpi whichever level you pick; Low Quality only compresses harder. For fewer pixels, PDF to Images can also draw pages at 108 or 72 dpi.
Usually. At 1224 pixels a Letter page is wider than most content columns, so scale it to the width it will be shown at. The file shrinks with it, and visitors download no pixels they never see.
Yes, WebP to PDF turns WebP images back into a PDF. The text stays a picture, though: it can't be selected or searched the way it could in the original.
Page numbers in the file names are not padded with zeros, so a folder sorted by name can put report_page_10.webp before report_page_2.webp. Sort by date or use a file manager that sorts numbers naturally, and the pages line up again.
Not while it asks for a password to open, because its pages can't be drawn. Unlock it with Remove Password Protection first, then convert the unlocked copy.
