Convert PDF to PNG and keep every pixel exact
-
Lossless compression
PNG makes the file smaller without throwing anything away, so the image matches the drawn page pixel for pixel.
-
Clean text edges
Small print, table rules and thin lines keep hard edges, without the smudges JPG leaves around letters.
-
Drawn at 144 dpi
Every page is rendered at twice its size in points, so a US Letter page becomes 1224 × 1584 pixels.
-
Files named by page
Pages are saved as report_page_3.png and so on, packed together in report_png_pages.zip. The numbers have no leading zeros, so sort by date to keep page 10 after page 9.
How each PDF page becomes a PNG
The PDF is opened in your browser, and each page you list is drawn onto a canvas the way a viewer shows it. Anything with a visible appearance is included: text, vector drawings, photos, filled-in form fields, stamps and comment markers. Layers switched off in the PDF stay hidden. This is how the tool turns PDF into PNG pages, whether you change PDF to PNG for editing or for reuse elsewhere.
With Separate PNG files (ZIP), every page becomes a file of its own, collected in one ZIP. Single combined PNG image stacks the pages top to bottom, each centred on the width of the widest page, into one tall picture that grows large quickly, since PNG drops no pixels.
How big a PNG gets depends on the page rather than on a setting. Black text on a white page compresses well, while a page covered in photos or colour gradients can run to several megabytes.
Want the photos inside a PDF rather than whole pages? Extract Images saves each embedded picture at the resolution it was stored in, instead of redrawing the page around it.
When a PDF page is better off as a PNG
-
Charts and diagrams in slides
Flat colours and fine lines come through without the blotchy halos JPG adds around them.
-
Pages in documentation
Put a page of a manual or spec into a wiki or help article with its small print still readable.
-
Images you'll keep editing
Crop, mark up and save the PNG as often as you like: a lossless file loses nothing with each save.
-
Receipts and tickets
Keep them as images on your phone with every figure and code sharp enough to read.
-
Maps and floor plans
Fine lines, labels and small symbols stay legible where JPG would smear them.
-
Study notes and flashcards
Turn lecture slides or textbook pages into images for flashcard and note-taking apps.
Need lighter PNG files?
PDF to Images can also save PNG at 108 or 72 dpi, which cuts the pixel count and, with it, the file size.

No. Each page is drawn onto white before it is saved, so areas that look empty in the PDF are white in the PNG. Remove the white in an image editor if you need transparency.
PNG keeps every pixel, while JPG throws away detail to save space. Pages full of photos grow the most; for those, PDF to JPG is usually the better fit.
List single pages and ranges separated by commas, such as 1, 3, 8-10. A backwards range like 10-8 works too, and the images still come out in page order; numbers past the last page are ignored.
Yes. After converting, every page appears in a preview grid with its own download button, next to Download All for the whole ZIP. Click a thumbnail to see the page larger and step through the others.
Only up to its own size. Text and drawings that are sharp outlines in the PDF become pixels at 144 dpi, so enlarging the image past that shows them. Keep the PDF wherever you need to zoom in or print at any size.
Yes. Pages are drawn one after another while a progress panel counts them, and they all stay in your browser's memory until the ZIP is built. On a phone or an older computer, convert a long document in batches of pages, such as 1-100 and then 101-200.
Not while it asks for a password to open, because its pages can't be drawn. Unlock it with Remove Password Protection first, then convert the unlocked copy.
It holds every pixel of every page with nothing dropped. Twenty Letter pages stacked at 144 dpi make an image of 1224 × 31,680 pixels, which can run to many megabytes. Separate files, or PDF to JPG for photo-heavy pages, stay far lighter.
