Merge PDF files with every page in view
Every page of every file you add appears as its own thumbnail in one strip, labelled with where it came from, such as File 2, Page 3. The merged PDF follows that strip in reading order, so what you see there is the order you download.
Files enter the strip in the order you add them, and files added later start after the last page already there. From then on, pages from different files can be mixed in any order, and a page from one file can sit between two pages of another. This is how you merge PDF documents from as many files as you like, since the strip keeps growing to fit them.
Join PDF pages in the order you want
-
Move a page
Drag a page to the left or right edge of another page to place it before or after that one. The pages around it close up behind it.
-
Replace a page
Drop a page onto the middle of another and it takes that page's place. The page it lands on leaves the merge.
-
Leave a page out
Switch off the toggle under a page to keep it out of the merged file. It stays in the strip, can't be dragged while it is off, and comes back when you switch it on again.
-
Remove a whole file
The cross beside a file in the list above the strip takes out that file and all of its pages, wherever you had moved them.
What goes into the merged file
When you click Merge PDFs, a new, empty PDF is created and every page that is switched on is copied into it in the order of the strip. Each page keeps its own size, orientation and content, so an A4 letter and a landscape slide can sit side by side in the same file. Nothing is scaled, cropped or turned into an image.
Only pages are copied. Anything that belongs to a file as a whole rather than to one of its pages, such as its bookmarks or its title and author details, stays behind in the originals.
When the merge is done, the result shows the combined size of the files you added next to the size of the merged PDF and its page count, with a preview of the new document to check before you save it.
When merging PDF files helps
Whether you combine two PDFs or twenty, dropping them here does the same job.
-
Scans made in several batches
Bring a document scanned in several goes back together, and drop a rescanned page onto the blurry one it replaces.
-
An application pack
Put a cover letter, a CV and certificates into the single PDF an online form asks for.
-
Invoices with their receipts
Place each receipt right after its invoice, page by page, and file the pair as one record.
-
Chapters from several authors
Join sections written in separate files into one report and switch off the title page each of them came with.
How to combine PDF files
-
Add your PDFs
Drop them onto the dropzone or click to browse. You can add more files at any point, so you can merge all PDFs you need in one pass.
-
Arrange the pages
Move, replace or switch off pages until the strip reads the way the finished file should.
-
Merge and download
Click Merge PDFs. The new file is named after the first PDF you added, with _merged at the end.
Want pages on top of each other?
To lay one PDF over another, such as a letter over a letterhead, use Overlay PDF.

Yes. Click any thumbnail to open it large, then use the arrows to step through the pages in merge order. Pages you have switched off are skipped, so you see exactly what the merged file will contain.
A drop only takes files whose names end in .pdf, and a file with the same name and size as one already in the list is skipped as a duplicate. To use a file's pages twice, for example a shared cover page, rename a copy before adding it.
Thumbnails are not drawn for files over 10 MB, so their pages show Too large instead of a picture. Those pages are still merged like any other and can be moved, replaced or switched off.
There is no undo button, and the page that was covered leaves the strip. Remove its file with the cross and add it again: all of that file's pages return at the end of the strip, ready to be moved back into place.
Yes. The Preview Size slider above the strip scales them from 50% to 200%, and your setting is remembered the next time you merge.
A password-protected PDF can't be opened for merging, so it is not added. Unlock it first with Remove Password, then add the unlocked copy.
