Rotate PDF pages a quarter or half turn
-
90° Clockwise Default
A quarter turn to the right, for a page whose top edge points left.
-
180°
Half a turn, which comes out the same whichever way you turn.
-
90° Counter-clockwise
A quarter turn to the left, for a page whose top edge points right.
Flip an upside-down PDF the right way up
Pages come out upside down when paper goes into a scanner the wrong way round or a document is photographed from the other side of the desk. Use this to flip PDF pages back the right way up: 180° turns them back, and in a mixed scan you can name the pages that need it. When only the backs of a double-sided scan came out upside down, enter the even page numbers under Rotate Specific Pages.
Rotating turns a page; it never mirrors it. A page saved as a mirror image, with its text reading backwards, can't be fixed by turning it.
Page Numbers also accepts a range written back to front, such as 7-5. It picks out the same pages as 5-7, since what matters is which pages you named, not the order the numbers were typed in.
What rotating does to a PDF page
Rotating doesn't redraw anything. Every page carries a setting that tells PDF viewers which way up to show it, and the tool adds your angle to that setting. The drawing of the page itself is left alone.
The file is rebuilt from its pages when you save, so bookmarks and the document's title and author details don't come along. The angle and page choice you used last are ready again on your next visit, and the result shows how many pages were turned and by how much.
Changes
- Which way up the page opens
- Its width and height on screen
- The way it prints
Stays as it was
- Text, still selectable
- Image quality
- The order of the pages
Turn a batch of PDFs by the same angle
-
Picks add up
Files you choose in a second go join the ones already there instead of replacing them.
-
Preview each file
Arrows in the preview header step through the files, so you can check every one before rotating.
-
One ZIP, original names
The rotated files come back in one ZIP under their own names, and each also has its own download button. Two files with the same name are numbered.
-
Failures are named
A file that can't be rotated is listed with the reason, and all the others are still saved.
-
One angle for the whole batch
A batch always rotates by one angle. Rotate Specific Pages is switched off for more than one file, since a page number would mean something different in each.
-
Progress as it runs
The button reads Rotating 2 of 5... and similar while a batch runs, so you can see how far it has gotten.
How to rotate a PDF
-
Add your PDFs
Drop one file or several onto the dropzone, or click to browse. Each page shows up as a thumbnail.
-
Choose the pages
Leave Rotate All Pages on, or pick Rotate Specific Pages and enter numbers such as 2, 5-7.
-
Set the angle
Pick it under Rotation Angle. The thumbnails turn to show the result before anything is saved.
-
Rotate and download
Click Rotate PDF, check the preview of the result and save it.

Yes, in two passes, since each run uses one angle. Rotate the first group, then add the saved file again and turn the other pages the opposite way.
No. PDF pages can only be shown in quarter turns, so the choices are 90° Clockwise, 180° and 90° Counter-clockwise. To straighten a slightly crooked scan, scan it again.
Pick Rotate Specific Pages and enter its number, such as 4. Only that page turns, and its thumbnail shows the result before you save.
Not directly: a password-protected PDF can't be opened for rotating. Unlock it first with Remove Password, then rotate the unlocked copy.
Yes. The new direction is saved in the file itself, so the pages open the right way up in any PDF viewer, on any device.
Your angle is added to the direction each page already has, starting from how it looks now. The thumbnails show the combined result, so check them before you save.
No. Rotate Specific Pages works on one file at a time, because page 3 is a different page in every document. Rotate All Pages turns a whole batch by the same angle.
